I feel like I've been cooped up for weeks. And it's almost Halloween and I don't have a costume. And Halloween coming up also means my birthday is coming up. Ew.

(For those who don't remember or know, Megan's bday is the day after Halloween. I know we have stuff going on this weekend for the party, BUT after that dies down if anyone wants to buy Meg a drink or hang out or whatever, I'm gonna have her out at at bar the night of her bday [Nov 1]. We can do a chat or...she can sit there and get drunk alone. Either way. Just let me know.)

(Backdated a week or so. Since DW sucks and is torturing me with this "not giving us more about Meg" thing, I'm opening up story to her father. If canon decides to jump in and say something else - I'll see where to go from there.)
She was nervous as hell.
She couldn't remember the last time she'd been so nervous.
Still in her work clothes, Megan entered the diner she was was meeting the man in. She'd had to cancel plans with Charlie, but as quickly as she'd decided to call the guy back - she realized she had to just go with it. And he'd asked her to meet that night. So there she was.
Looking around, she tried to figure out who he might be. Her eyes stopped on a booth where a man sat alone. He glanced at her and met her eyes. She couldn't read him at all, but something sent a chill down her back. In the next moment he grinned and stood up. "Damn, you're a Wheeler. No doubt."

It's been a long week. I met up with a guy that knew my dad, my boyfriend is pissed at me, and I forgot my sister's birthday. Fuck.

She got out of Charlie's truck and went for the front door of her building. He started to follow, but she turned around. "Goodnight, Charlie."
He gave her his best pout. "I can't come up?"
"Not tonight."
"Please?" He moved closer and tried to set his hands to her hips, but she stepped away.
"I'll put it to you this way," she said coolly. "I have a headache. And it's probably going to last the week."
"Aww, Meg, you're not mad are you?"
"Are you serious?"
"Are you?" He looked genuinely confused. She crossed her arms and glared at him.
"After tonight, yea."
"We had dinner with my sister...I thought you liked my sister."
"I do," she nodded.
"So what's wrong?"
She shook her head then looked at him again. "You told Julie I have commitment issues."
"You do. I-I mean, so what? We all do." He quickly corrected himself at the look she gave him. He sighed and ran his fingers through his hair. "But..you do. And..it's okay.."
"You told your sister I have commitment issues!" She moved forward to hit him in the arm. Hard.
"Ow! I'm sorry, Meg. She's..she's my sister. I tell her things."
"She asked me if I ever think about having kids and you laughed and said, 'Meg? No, Meg here has commitment issues.' What the hell, Charlie?"
"I didn't laugh...I..chuckled." She glared at him. "I'm sorry, honey. Please...let me up. We'll talk it out."
"Goodnight, Charlie." She turned on her heel and went inside.

Meg wearily dragged herself up the steps of her building and headed down the hall. She smiled when she saw Charlie sitting on the floor in front of her door. She came to a stop and looked down at him with a tilt of her head. His eyes were closed. She didn't mind taking that as a free chance to check him out.
After a moment or two a slow smile came to his lips. "I hope that's you, baby, and not some freaky neighbor."
"Depends who you're calling baby," she replied. His eyes opened and he looked up at her with an intense, but still smiling stare.
"Only you," he answered. She held out a hand to help him to his feet. "Well..you and Java."
She laughed. "I wouldn't dare deprive Java of his time with you by becoming jealous." He chuckled and waited as she unlocked the door and let them in. After shutting the door, his hands rested on her hips from behind and he leaned in to kiss her neck gently.
"Go get ready for bed. I'll feed the heathens."
Her eyes closed and her breath caught at the feel of his mouth to her skin. "Don't call them heathens."
"Mmm-hmm." He let his lips roam a bit more and pulled her closer against him. She leaned back with a sigh. "I missed you," he whispered.
"Did you?"
"Yea."
"I missed you, too," she replied, surprisingly easily. He sighed and rested his chin on her shoulder.
"We should get out of town for a few days. Things've been so crazy I feel like I've barely seen you."
"A vacation? Together?" The comforting and easy fear began to rise in her once more.
"That'd be ideal, yea." He tightened his arms around her. "Don't over think it, just come away with me."
"Where would you want to go?"
"Will Karen let us use the condo at the Shore?"
"Probably."
"Okay, then," he kissed her neck again and she turned her face to him. He moved his mouth to her lips and kissed her slowly. She turned her body around to meet his and wrapped her arms around his neck.
She pulled back after a bit to catch her breath. She stayed close with her eyes still shut. "Hurry up and feed the heathens," she murmured.

(For Wendy who requested a ::gasp!:: real Megpost!...granted she asked a week or so ago, but...yea...)
One reason I've never left my apartment building? The super likes me and lets me have my pets in house. Plus...you know, great location, and..it's home. However, not much can be said for the state of the building itself. Bad enough it's a walk up and the stairwell always has...an interesting smell, and it's real easy to catch your finger in the trash shoot down the hall...
The AC and heating isn't always reliable. In fact, it's so unreliable that the AC went out completely two nights ago in the entire building. I'm not so spoiled that I need it, but it's August. Fans are not enough. So I've moved out of my apartment for a few days. I should be able to go back soon, which will be nice. Though really - it's also nice to be living somewhere that isn't melting the skin off my body.

"Cause you had a bad day, you're taking one down, you sing a sad song just to turn it around.."
Megan curled up closer to Charlie on the couch and rubbed his back gently. He sighed against her. "Run away with me," he whispered.
"No."
"Why not?"
"Because I'm not that crazy about you, yet, and because you can't hide."
"Isn't that what I'm doing here?"
"True...okay. Well, you can't run away."
"How about a vacation?"
She started to reply, but stopped. "A vacation? Where to?"
"Anywhere."
Meg frowned and tipped her face up to look at him. She kissed his jawline lightly. "I'm sorry you had a bad day, Charlie."
He closed his eyes as her mouth hit his skin. "It's okay. It's nice to have someone that I can tell I had a bad day."
"You do have that."
Charlie sighed and pulled her closer. "I had a bad day, Meg." She moved over slightly and kissed his lips.
"It'll be okay."

She sighed at her appearance in the mirror. "Why did I agree to this?" Charlie smiled and wrapped his arms around her from behind, brushing a kiss to her neck.
"Because you can't say no to me?"
"Or I'm an idiot."
"You said it, not me."
She rolled her eyes and swatted his head. "I mean it..you should go without me. You'll make a much better impression."
"What?" He pulled her around to face him and set his hands on her hips. "What's wrong?"
"Nothing," she said, looking down.

Okay, so I'm a bit burnt. Not too bad. Just a little extra red today. Look like I'm blushing 25/7. Joy.
But it's to be expected after a day lazying about by the pool. It was actually a lot of fun (despite the random 'disagreements' with my mom and sister). One of those times I don't hate my sister for having a pool in her backyard. Or her husband that will cook burgers and hot dogs on the grill for all of us.
Thanks for coming along, Alex. Safe to say my family loved you.

(With thanks to
mtwendyr for helping construct this npc. Set for Friday night. As always, love to hear what you think.)
Megan waved to the random cops she'd been having a couple drinks with and made her way out the door. She breathed in the warming evening air and shoved her hands in her pockets. Looking around a moment she decided she was hungry. She didn't feel like going home at any rate.

Interesting weekend. Really was. Went out for drinks Friday night and got quite drunk. Ran into one of the guys from the old task force crew and we ended up sitting at Joe Jr's [diner] for hours, just talking and eating. It was nice to catch up. He was one of the few that didn't give me a hard time...at least...not as much of a hard time.
Then I went home and took care of the animals, crashed on the couch for awhile, then sometime Saturday I wound up at the Eames-Dresden household and was a lazy, no-good, uninvited houseguest for the day. It was actually fun and relaxing. When Alex wasn't sleeping.
Pup was happy to see his old friend Max. I'm not sure who Alex and David were less enthused to see...me or Pup.

I do not like being the face of the NYPD! At all! Why is it always me having to go on television? And don't say it's the freckles, I will hurt you.
This case is giving me migraines. Personally I'm not going for the connection. Maybe that's just me.
